thirty years. And if you’ve found your way to this website, chances are we’ve been on this journey together, savoring the rich and exotic flavors from Latin kitchens.
With the opening of Street, I’m thrilled to be exploring
new culinary horizons combining my love for travel
and my insatiable appetite for the foods from
other world cultures.
Even though I’ve had formal training as a chef,
the single greatest influence on my life’s work
has been the food I have sampled from street vendors
throughout the United States and around the world.
These unsung chefs cook food that excites the palate
with unexpected flavors and exotic ingredients.
The idea for Street was inspired by these vendors, bringing their heart and soul and generations of great cooking to their stands. Hopefully you’ll be as enchanted as I have been. Street is the most vibrant expression of my passion for world food to date;it's like a trip around the food stands of the world under one roof.
So I invite you to share this journey with me, bring your appetite,
and get ready to savor mouth-watering tastes from flavors worldwide!

SUSAN FENIGER
Susan Feniger has such passion for food and people that it sometimes seems fated that she end up in the restaurant business. It started as far back as she can remember, cooking in the kitchen with her mother, and continued through high school and beyond. Except for that quick side-trip as a woodworker (yes, it's true!) she has been on a steady path ever since.
KAJSA ALGER (say "SA-SHA") Executive Chef/Partner
From protege to partner. Kajsa Alger shares Susan's love for travel and food from street vendors. Her association with Feniger started when she snuck into the kitchen at City Restaurant and began an unpaid apprenticeship, which quickly led to paid positions in both City and Border Grill. Her travels have taken her to northern California to both the highly acclaimed Zuni Cafe and Restaurant Sent Sovi, to Portland's Carlyle Restaurant & Bar, where she worked with organic farmers and cheese makers.
Kajsa eventually returned to Los Angeles as the Corporate Chef for Ciudad and Border Grill, in charge of every aspect of the restaurants. Her long association with Susan, and her creative passion for ethnic market foods make Kajsa a perfect collaborator on STREET
